Folio 231: Waldegrave to H. Walpole. Treaty between Britain and the Elector of Saxony or King of Poland, does not displease Fleury. The nomination by the Emperor of George II to decide the question of East Friesland angers Fleury; mediation between Portugal and Spain; King of Sweden refuses to oblige France by disavowing letters printed in the Dutch Gazette, being more concerned to maintain good relations with Britain; Fleury is worried by the alliance between Austria and Russia and believes other powers should take appropriate measures to counter-balance it; Stanislas is to obtain Lorraine which will eventually become part of France; Fleury jealous of British influence with Sweden and plans for a royal marriage; Berg and Jülich.
