French irritation that Emperor showed [f.266] to the British ambassador while it had not yet been accepted by France; France insists Stanislas must abdicate before the Elector of Saxony can be recognised as King of Poland. Ozarowski has made vigorous protest against the proposed settlement. Spain has accepted mediation in dispute with Portugal.
