He believes Fleury would be prepared to abandon his allies if they refused the peace plan providing he could be sure that Britain would prove a trustworthy ally instead; successions to Lorraine, Tuscany, Parma, Castro; chances ofFrench acceptance of the Pragmatic Sanction; tentative French hope to acquire [Belgium]; De La Baune's mission to Vienna is probably a French attempt to seek peace through direct negotiation.
