Folio 112: [?] to Pelham. Fleury reproved Pezé for giving too great a confidence to Atterbury. Atterbury believes Robert Walpole will restore good relations with France by consenting to her getting Lorraine and will crush his opponent Pulteney, who (according to Atterbury) has Jacobite sympathies. Mar may be encouraging the plot for a Jacobite rising in order to betray it and thus obtain his pardon. Britain's abandoning friendly relations with France has weakened Fleury's position, and made French support for a Jacobite invasion a possibility; Pezé; Ormond; Fleury's sources of intelligence.
