Folio 222: Townshend to W. Stanhope, H. Walpole and Poyntz. Britain would support the proposal of Spanish garrisons for Parma and Tuscany providing Spain agrees to settle other outstanding questions and that George II's dominions in Germany are covered by a mutual defence pact against any reprisals from the Emperor; danger that the Emperor might again offer a daughter to Don Carlos; preparations for the contingency of renewal of war with Spain.
