Folio 172: W. Stanhope, H. Walpole, Poyntz to Townshend. Progress of negotiations with Austria and Spain. Fleury says France will join Britain in declaring war on Spain if satisfactory reply not received even though effects belonging to Frenchmen had not yet been delivered from the Spanish galleon fleet to them. Spain may agree to a settlement if Spanish garrisons can be installed in Parma and Tuscany.
Date and place: 1729 June 1, Paris.
