Meeting with Chauvelin; French apprehension that Britain might engage in a closer alliance with Prussia from which France would be excluded; France wants Britain to participate in the alliance with the Four Electors; France has warned Prussia that she will oppose any Prussian invasion of Mecklenburg; danger of alliance between the Emperor, the King of Poland, and the Czar; question of Polish succession and possibility that France may support Stanislas Leszczynski's candidature; French fear of British reconciliation with Austria excluding France; Fleury more trusting than Chauvelin; French army in state of readiness; Elisabeth Farnese may be dissatisfied that the Emperor has only offered his second daughter to Don Carlos; providing Spain is not alienated by Britain's establishing Port Mahon and Gibraltar as free ports and fortifying Providence Island, she may leave the alliance with Austria; Spanish indulto will reflect cost of bringing the galleons home; Dutch opposition to the Biscay Company.
