Description

Folio 447: General suggestions concerning the proposed treaty. It should be based on previous treaties; suspension of the Ostend Company; settlement of Schleswig dispute; Spain will not give preferential trading privileges to Austria; appointment of Commissioners to fix a tariff for the Austrian Netherlands [vis-...-vis Britain and Holland]; appointment of Commissioners to arbitrate on questions of interference with trade, seizure of ships and compensation; Don Carlos' accession to Parma and Tuscany will be supported and Swiss garrisons will be installed if necessary to ensure Parmesan and Tuscan compliance; a settlement can be quickly concluded at Soissons if Spain accepts these terms.
