Folio 94: [Newcastle] to H. Walpole. Is sending Col. Armstrong, author of the plan to station an army of observation, composed of French troops, at Nijmegen to protect Holland and encourage the Rhine principalities to maintain their neutrality. The French army should invade the north coast of Spain, rather than Catalonia if war breaks out, thus protecting Britain from invasion attempts and occupying the major Spanish shipyards. Need to conclude convention with Denmark.
Date and place: 1727 Apr 2/13, Whitehall.
