Folio 126: Wilkins to R. Walpole. Dillon and the Duchess of Buckingham are representing the Jacobite cause at the French Court; Philip V and the Pope seem to support the Pretender and d'Orléans might be persuaded to join them; the fact that Philip V would succeed to the French throne if Louis XV died, royal marriages and French support for Spanish claim to Gibraltar, indicate that France might prefer good relations with Spain rather than Britain; Wilkins applies for Consular post in Cadiz or Leghorn.
