Suspects Dubois' explanation for delay to French ratification guaranteeing Schleswig to Denmark; Dubois apparently advised Duke of Holstein to seek Russia's protection; Sutton told Dubois that Russia will only give up Revel if threatened with force; danger of cooperation between Empire and Russia; Dubois says France unable to provide subsidies to Sweden at present due to her monetary difficulties; mentions difficulty of coercing Russia; France not eager to sign treaty with Sweden; Roman Catholic influence upon Regent's policies; Pope's Constitution; cabal opposed to Law; Law's policies conflict with British commercial interests; revolt possible in Guienne; Turkish representative brought to Paris in spite of expense; plague; Regent may have prevented Dubois becoming a Cardinal at recent series of promotions; Sutton's financial difficulties due to bank bills.
