Jacobites laying wagers that Pretender will be on British throne within a year; they meet at Law's brother's house; Law contemptuous of British financial position; Senneterre and Plenoeuf going to England as France's representatives; theformer has had instructions from Law and Leblanc, not Dubois; public enraged against Law; inflation; decree forbidding retention of large sums of coin; Law declares France will not relinquish Pensacola and will oppose British Asiento privilege; Law obstructs sale of Yarmouth herrings to France, preferring dearer Dutch herrings; Regent condemns detention of British ships and searching of British couriers by [Compagnie agents]; build up of army and navy in France.
