Folio 235: Prior to Dartmouth. De Torcy replied that Catholic Cantons resented relinquishing lands in dispute. Count Luc conferred privately with Protestants in Berne and Zurich and only asked them to consider handing back lands formerly belonging to Catholic Cantons. Nothing will be done without Queen Anne's approval. French Council has confirmed French Admiralty judgement against English merchants whose goods were taken on board Hamburg and Bremen vessels. Iberville will reside at English Court until French Ambassador appointed. French appear very indifferent about British proposals for postal agreement.
