Folio 209: Selkirk to [?Dartmouth]. Thanks him for promise of protection over affair of Chastelherault [Châtellerault]. French Court offered a pension worth twenty thousand pounds. Refused offer. Would give up claim to Duchy and all arrears if given four hundred thousand pounds together with pension, but French refused to pay this. De Torcy wants affair to be managed by Commissaries. Selkirk hopes Queen Anne will appoint some too so that justice is ensured, and asks for her help so that his brother's debts may be paid.
