Folio 173: Pontchartrain to Prior. Has enquired about hostages held at Toulon for the Alexander and the Martin. He has written to the Commissaire Ordonnateur of St. Malo about the capture of the Forester. Sends Prior a letter under flying seal to de Vaudreuil. Contains orders to send English colonist prisoners back to New England. If they wish to stay in New France, they will have absolute freedom. Trusts England will similarly release French colonists in British territory. Will release Captain John Winn of the Flying Horse from Bristol, also Daniel [Linkstan], Englishman, condemned for life to French galleys but not John Gasson who is not English but son of a silk-maker of Picardie.
