Folio 169: Pontchartrain to Dartmouth. Thanks him for dealing fairly with French complaints, in particular for the release of the St. Pierre and the St. Simon. Hopes other ships taken during the suspension of arms will be released. He has written to Calais to discover why Cardon has claimed ransom for an English boat, when ransom has already been claimed by ship owner of Bayonne. Will reach satisfactory decision concerning hostage for the Cunningham. Certain French boats with British passports captured by Dutch. Since Dutch are British allies, they should respect these passports. Asks for release of the boats, as French would do so in similar situation.
