Folio 13: Pontchartrain to Dartmouth. Hopes for release of hostages taken from Picard and Norman fishing boats; as de la Bouchetiere and other British officers have been returned to England he had expected the release of Middleton and other Frenchmen in exchange. Thanks him, for attending to French prisoners' complaints about treatment. The French King ordered the release of a seized British cargo vessel as it had a cargo of fish; hopes that Britain will be as lenient in the future, since the fishing convention strictly only applies to fishing boats. He has sent Galway's letter to Le Duc de Vendôme but has received no reply from Pembroke.
Date and place: 1712 Jan 27, Marly.
