Folio 278: Pontchartrain to Hedges. Has learned that English warships had taken some French merchant vessels; protests, and is sure Hedges will take action against the officers, particularly the captain of the Tiger; English and French ships off the coast of Spain;cruelty of English officers; hopes Hedges will write to Methuen to send French soldiers back to Cadiz or Vigo; proposed arrangements concerning the soldiers; promises to care well for English soldiers who fall into French hands.
