Thanks him for hospitality when he was in England; has received wound in battle [?at Gibraltar] against Ro[o]ke; writer's poor opinion of Howe's behaviour; satisfied to be in French service; hopes addressee will speak to Sir Alexander Rigby about his obligations to a relation; best wishes sent to Crockshanks; hoping for a letter; instructions as to how addressee to send it to him; sends compliments to addressee's family; was a captain to the Prince in the campaign.
