Folio 22: De Bacquoy to [Williamson]. Princess Dowager of Orange asks the States to try and persuade Louis XIV to remove his troops and Papist governor from Orange. Negotiations and difficulties over conclusion of Franco-Dutch treaty. Charles II's action over Pouleron island has been widely acclaimed by the Dutch, and has strengthened the position of the Prince of Orange; States General's promise to the order of Malta to restore property. Elector of Cologne wishes to negotiate with the States General about Rheinberg. States General have warned the Duke of Berg and Jülich. Anglophile Dutchmen wish Charles II would take stronger measures against rebels in England.
