Folio 20: Wickfort to [Williamson]. Report of suspension of arms between Spain and Portugal; Spain may recognise Duke of Braganza as King of Portugal. Spain may be unable to make further military progress. The Queen is angered that Don Juan of Austria commands theSpanish army, and suspicious that if her husband should die, Don Juan might make himself King of Spain. Imperial ambassador assures him that the Duke of Mantua is to place himself under French protection and is prepared to sell Casale to France. No hopes of peace with the Turks. [Empire or France] may send an army into Italy.
