Due to the success of National Express and National Holidays, the Government passed the 1981 Transport Act to introduce private capital into NBC in order to privatise National Express and National Holidays. However this was not achieved at this stage.
National Crusader was formed in 1983 to develop the potential of the London market and National Travelworld was set up in the same year to develop the potential of NBC's sales outlets. National Products was set up on 1 January 1984, to co-ordinate all these leisure activities.
Under the influence of the Transport Act 1985, contractual relationships were established between National Express and the coach owning companies. In 1986, National Holidays was sold to Pleasurama and National Express was sold to its management in 1987.
