The operational divisions of NEDO (the Industry, Economics and Statistics and Manpower and Education divisions all produced reports which were published for a wider readership to stimulate debate and disseminate ideas. These publications, usually free but later charged for, were produced with the help of the Publications Section (later the Communications Section). The reports were produced by a process of research and, where appropriate, consultation with the relevant side of the industry concerned. The collection of data, its initial analysis and conclusions and recommendations was conducted by the office staff or external consultants. In either case the final report was written with input from and guidance of the commissioning committee.
