The South East and East Anglia Regional Offices were set up in 1965 following the Government's review of the policies set out in the previous Conservative Government's White Paper on South East England. Because of a shortage of expert staff and the need for close liaison these two regional offices shared the same accommodation in London, the same file series and also some staff. Indeed the Senior Executive Officer post was common to both regions.
