This series contains records of the Atomic Energy (AE) divisions of the Ministry of Technology, the first Department of Trade and Industry (1970-1974) and the Department of Energy dealing with international relations generally, including relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency and the European Nuclear Energy Agency.
The series covers subjects dealing with international relations generally, including relations with the IAEA on topics such as nuclear safety issues, a proposed international nuclear information system, the supply of equipment to the IAEA, Anglo-German scientific co-operation and nuclear sales to Germany, comparisons of the cost of US and UK nuclear power stations, gas centrifuge and fast breeder reactor collaboration, disposal of radioactive waste, the UK's involvement in the Joint European Torus (JET), the Working Group on the Implementation of the UK Non Proliferation Policy and participation in an international experimental reactor project. Some of the files were originally raised with INT, IND, COMM and ELC prefixes, before being re-registered into the CW series. The CW series started in 1969.
