The National Union for the Technical Education of Women in Domestic Science was set up in 1876 to further education in domestic subjects and to ensure that a high standard was maintained in training colleges for domestic studies. The Union was wound up in 1917, when its functions were carried on by the National Council for Domestic Studies.
