Registered files of the two teams of the Universities Branch of the Department of Education and Science concerned with university finance and policy matters.

These files contain material on the two direct grant institutions, the Cranfield College of Technology and the Royal College of Art, in addition to papers relating to the formation of the Computer Board for Universities and Research Councils.

Other subjects covered include the new universities, colleges of advanced technology, the Open University, overseas students' fees, medical students, research at universities, the National Union of Students and the financial position of students' unions.
