Administrative / biographical background

Fircroft College is a specialist adult residential college based in Selly Oak, Birmingham. The college was originally founded by George Cadbury in 1909.

In 1975 a major dispute erupted when students took control of the college. The Department appointed a committee of inquiry into the problem at Fircroft College, chaired by Andrew Leggatt QC, which published its report in April 1976.
