The files contain, inter alia, correspondence and minutes arising from the failure of Merionethshire and Montgomeryshire Local Education Authorities to fulfill their obligations under Section 11 and 13 of the Education Act, 1902. The papers also include general aspects of office procedure and organisation and reports and surveys by HM Inspectors on specific subjects.
Before 1921 the files were in an unnumbered series but subsequently a numbered series was introduced which absorbed cognate papers from the earlier series.
In alphabetical order of subject titles and are grouped for the periods 1885-1911 and 1912-1935.
