Folio 265: R. Walpole to Sir Stanier Porten. Says he has given a letter of introduction to him for Mr Henry O'Neill, an Irish adventurer in Danish service, who has just arrived from Spain and claims to be in possession of most secret intelligence of such importancethat he will only reveal it to a minister of the Crown. Walpole is rather sceptical, and leaves it to Porten whether O'Neil should be introduced to Hillsborough.
Date and place: 1780 Aug 21 Lisbon.
