Folio 261: Earl of Hillsborough to R. Walpole. His comments on the papers presented by Pinto de Sousa (S.P.89/87, ff.35, 37, 52, 54), and which ones he has accepted or rejected. Thinks Pinto may have been acting on his own responsibility in some cases; Walpole should politely but firmly squelch any Portuguese idea that Britain is now in a very critical situation, so may be disposed to make concessions. King is very pleased with Walpole's intelligence reports and activity at Lisbon.
Date and place: 1780 Mar 14 London.
