Folio 434: W. Macintosh to John Undny at Leghorn. Claims that this homeward-bound convoy from India `comprizes the greatest mass of wealth, that ever was destined at any one time into the Thames, and a body of seamen who are as capable of giving a vigorous spring to the naval power of Britain as the actual possession of so much riches must enhance the public credit of the State.' Hopes adequate naval protection will be provided to forestall any attempted interception by enemy fleets.
Date and place: 1780 Sept 29 Cape of Good Hope.
