Folio 175: Sir John Hort to Earl of Hillsborough. Forwards receipts for 640 French and Spanish prisoners. Depredations of Spanish privateers against Portuguese and British shipping from Oporto. Measures taken by Commodore Johnstone to cope with this menace, and forconvoying home the trade from Lisbon and Oporto. Forty British vessels waiting for him at Oporto with cargoes including 11,000 pipes of wine.
Date and place: 1780 Aug 3 Lisbon.
