Folio 435: R. Walpole to Viscount Weymouth. Has informed Ayres de Sá of Spanish resolve to maintain neutrality, and of the escalation of naval reprisals between Britain and France. Portuguese warships from Brazil arrived with five million cruzados in money `for theTrade .. and nine chests of diamonds for the King'. Two warships sent out to cruise against the Algerines. Hearsay report of an engagement between the French and British fleets.
