Folio 235: L. Pinto de Sousa to Viscount Weymouth. Encloses copies of correspondence relating to the outbreak of hostilities in South America (ff.237-47), which show the Spaniards are to blame. Assures him that the recent Portuguese victories on land will not affect the King of Portugal's previous determination to give the Spanish Crown satisfaction for the two Spanish ships seized, as desired by the mediating Courts of Britain and France.
