Folio 223: R. Walpole to Viscount Weymouth. Pombal has communicated to him the papers he has sent to Pinto de Sousa on the outbreak of fighting in South America, and which the latter is to communicate to Weymouth. Blames Spaniards for initiating hostilities and claims that the delay in sending orders from Lisbon to suspend hostilities was due to Grimaldi's reluctance to issue similar orders.
