Folio 215: Marquis of Pombal to F. I. de Sousa Coutinho. Has now received latest news from Rio de Janeiro on the fighting in South America and encloses `Extract' of the same (ff.217-21). Renews assurances that Marquis of Lavradio has been given and has received orders to stop the fighting and to revert to the status quo ante. British and French ambassadors at Madrid to be reassured accordingly.
Date and place: 1776 July 8 Lisbon.
