Folio 196: Sir John Hort to Viscount Weymouth. Latest war news from North America with his comments thereon. Reasons why he has declined to implement Walpole's suggestion that he should instruct his subordinates `to withhold for the present all assistance to the ships of the colonies in this port.' In a p.s. he states that the royal decree `commanding all ships belonging to British North America to depart from every port in this kingdom within eight days on pain of confiscation', though dated 4 July (f.186), will `not be published till Monday morning'.
