Folio 82: R. Walpole to Viscount Weymouth. Pombal thinks the Spanish government should be satisfied with his pacific assurances. His denial of Spanish allegations that Portugal is making military preparations against Spain. French ambassador also convinced of Pombal's sincerity in this respect. Bolts will not be allowed to take on wine at Madeira, nor to trade at Goa. He has been ordered to leave `on Sunday next'. Mello e Castro's hedging answers on seizure of Unity and English prisoners at Lisbon. Encloses a paper (f.86) just received concerning American brigs laden with stores for Philadelphia.
