Folio 145: R. Walpole to Earl of Rochford. Encloses more documentation on the complaints of the British Factory at Oporto (ff.151-202) including a translation (ff.191-202) of the Deducção (ff.137-142). Analyses the facts as alleged by both sides. Pombal dismisses the complaints of the Factory as"ill grounded, and indecent and disrespectful to the Tribunals of His Most Faithfull Majesty" and the English merchants at Oporto as being unscrupulous monopolists and engrossers.
Date and place: 1772 Sept 26 Lisbon.
