Folio 121: R. Walpole to Earl of Rochford. Encloses copy of Pombal's evasive and unsatisfactory answer over the complaint of Buller & Coy (f.125). De Mello may give satisfaction over the A. Clarke affair and Leeson and the tavern-keepers have justice done them. Encloses more documentation on the brothers Van Nes (ff.129-34) and has demanded the recall of A. Van Nes from Angola. Inconclusive talk with Pombal on British Factory at Oporto, and other pending problems, including the "old affair" of Mr. Milnes (f.135). Report that Policarp, accused of trying to kill King Joseph in 1758, had been arrested in Spain denied by De Mello.
