Folio 111: R. Walpole to Earl of Rochford. Encloses copy (f.113) of his letter to the Marquis of Pombal in favour of the firm of Buller and Co., who have been compelled to take a worthless Treasury note (folha) in payment of a debt. Doubts that Pombal will prove amenable. Encloses documentation on the causes of Eleanor Clifford (f.119) and Capt. Clarke (f.117), both of which he has taken up with De Mello. Pombal is going to open the new University at Coimbra.
Date and place: 1772 Sept 5 Lisbon.
