Description

Folio 257: Lords of the Admiralty to Earl of Rochford. Enclose copy of letter from Capt. Stott R.N. on refusal of Viceroy at Rio to accept drafts on the Navy and Victualling Boards for provisions supplied, but only ready cash. This has happened before, and as Captains Cook and Furneaux may have occasion to call there on their voyage of discovery, the Board suggests the Court of Portugal should be asked to supply them with letters of introduction to the Viceroy and that he be told to accept drafts on Victualling or Navy Boards for all supplies given to British warships.
