Folio 148: E. Hay to Duke of Richmond. Portuguese government has agreed to exchange of the papers signed by James Macnamara and he encloses the one signed under duress, together with a translation (f.151). Encloses copies of his memorials to Dom Luis da Cunha of the 9 April (f.153) and 14 April (f.157), together with supporting documentation (ff.159-168), but he still cannot obtain any favourable answers. No reply yet on Charles Douglas' claim against Caetano Correia de Sá. Is hopeful of getting some satisfaction for John Bristow, `but Business here is in very few hands, and all money matters go on very heavily, especially where long accounts are to be referred to.'.
Date and place: 1766 June 28 Lisbon.
