News of a 3-day riot at Madrid (23-26 Mar.), `occasioned by certain laws for taking away the use of cloaks and flapt hats and upon the dearness of provisions,' and dislike of the Marquis of Esquilache, who has been dismissed by the King. Court news. Formal opening of a new Royal College for the sons of the nobility. `This institution is the first of the kind in these countries, and I believe Mons. de Oeyras took his idea from the public schools in England, although the plan is somewhat different.'.
