Folio 185: E. Hay to Earl of Halifax. Count of Oeiras `very uneasy' about latest news from Brazil, where he is convinced that Spanish aggression is inspired by the Jesuits. Encloses a Portuguese copy (wanting) of very lengthy papers relating to a royal decree forbidding the implementation of a papal brief of 7 Jan. 1765, Apostolicum pascendi, `confirming the Order of Jesuits'. Will forward English translation later (ff.191-213). Reform of kitchens of the royal household expected to yield great economies.
