Description

Folio 283: E. Hay to Earl of Egremont. Congratulations on signing of preliminary peace. Local moves in consequence of this. Spaniards continued operations up till the very last moment, and Portuguese Court has taken great umbrage at an abortive attempt they made onOlivença. The transports for the projected evacuation of the British Factory no longer needed. Eulogies of Count Lippe, and of the British general officers in Portuguese service. Arrival of the Pernambuco Fleet, but price of sugar has dropped over 30% with news of peace.
