Folio 257: Martinho de Mello e Castro to Earl of Egremont. Fears that France and Spain will try to place Portugal in an inferior position when the peace is signed by placing her on the level of the Dutch Republic at the peace of Aix-la-Chapelle. He trusts that the Crown of Great Britain will not accept this, but insist on the Crown of Portugal being accorded the same treatment as the other three. Annexed are extracts from articles 15, 20, 23 of the Preliminaries.
