Folio 202: Sir H. Frankland to Earl of Egremont. Glad to hear of the opening of peace negotiations, as the Factory is still very pessimistic about the military situation, being convinced that `nothing but a peace can effect the salvation of Portugal', or prevent the occupation of Lisbon by the Spaniards if the latter are really in earnest. Factory hope for transports to evacuate them, if needed.
Date and place: 1762 Oct 13 Lisbon.
