Folio 85: E. Hay to Earl of Egremont. Report of Spanish evacuation of Chaves has proved premature, but they have evacuated the rest of Tras-os-Montes. New decree concerning better payment of Portuguese Army. Transports have arrived at Oporto. Encloses latest bulletin from Loudoun (f.87). Latest news from North shows that Irish and Swiss soldiers are freely deserting from the Spaniards.
